Air Jordan 3

The 87-88 season was when Michael received his first NBA Most Valuable Player award. He also crushed the competition in the Slam Dunk contest and led the Bull’s to their best regular season record since the 1974-75 season. Winning all the individual honors one can think of, he did it in style with his Air Jordan 3’s.
Tinker Hatfield the lead designer at Nike took much liking to the Air Jordan 3’s. The design was totally different from the Air Jordan 1 and Air Jordan 2 and it was also was the first pair of Air Jordans to display the classic Nike Air Pocket. Leading the way for the Air Jordan 3, Tinker Hatfield has since led the design for each of the Air Jordan Signature shoes all the way up to the Air Jordan 15’s.
The Air Jordan 3’s were also the first from the signature line to use the Jumpman Logo in replacement of the Nike Wings Logo which was previoiusly used on the Air Jordan 1 and Air Jordan 2.
To many sneaker enthusiasts, the classic lines and design have made this a leading contender for the best looking Air Jordans from the entire collection of 23 shoes. The Air Jordan 3’s have been voted the best Air Jordans amonst a variety of public polls and subsequently Air Jordan fans lost their minds when the Air Jordan 3 was re-released in its retro version in ‘94.
Mars success Nike created a personality ad campaign featuring the Mars Blackmon character who was created and played by director/actor Spike Lee.
This campaign followed Air Jordan for a couple of years and is definately one of the most appreciated Nike commercial series through all time.
I’d say that the Air Jordan III was a major reason to the Air Jordan line’s overall success.
